industry news NATEAC Offers Discount for Early Registration The North American Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference (NATEAC) has started their early registration period. Attendees who register before April 1, 2012, will receive a $75 discount off the $750 registration fee. The convention will take place in New York City July 22-23 and will bring together an inter-national group of architects, consultants and engineers to talk about issues and trends in designing and building of performing arts facilities “I’m very happy that, even with moving the conference to the Hilton Hotel, we’ve been able to hold the registration fee to the same as it was in 2008,” said Bill Sapsis, conference director. “We will once again kick off the conference on Saturday night with the very popular harbor cruise. We’ll have discounted Broadway show tickets and back stage tours. The heart of the conference, of course, will be the two days of panels offered on Sunday and Monday, July 22 & 23.” changing roles Jackson Scott Named Director of New Play Development at Victory Gardens Theater Jackson Scott has been named Director of New Play Development at Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago, starting February 1. Scott will use the newly-cre-ated position to further develop Victory Gardens’ commitment to new theatre. Scott was most recently the literary asso-ciate at the New York Theatre Workshop Jackson Scott from 2006-2012. Jason Roscher New Project Manager at Rose Brand Jason Roscher is joining Rose Brand as a project manager in their Technical Services Dept. He will serve as a representative of Rose Brand in the field, managing installation of track and rigging systems in theatrical and commercial environments. Prior to joining Rose Brand he has worked Jason Roscher at The Spoleto Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, and most recently spent a number of years working and living in Las Vegas where his technical production work included roles with Cirque du Soleil’s Believe , Elvis , and Love productions, as well as Lion King Las Vegas. CORRECTION In our February issue we neglected to credit a photo, shown here, used in our sur-vey of trends in the rigging industry. The performers are dancing on a chandelier in the atrium onboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Splendour of the Seas. Flying by Foy handled the flying for the perform-ers and chandelier.
