Milos Acquires Tomcat and Litec

ASHLAND, VA —Czech Republic- based Milos Group acquired two other leading trussing and staging brands: Litec and Tomcat.

The deal makes Milos one of the largest global aluminum trussing and staging groups, with Litec’s facilities in Italy and Slovakia and Tomcat’s in Mexico and the U.S. joining Milos’ 250,000 square feet of factory and warehouse space in the Czech Republic and Asia.

“Having Litec and Tomcat on board expands the ideas pool and product range to meet all staging needs with a truly international reach,” said Milos CEO Frantisek Zykan.

Zykan added that Litec’s prominence in products targeting the conference and exhibition markets and Tomcat’s forte in live music and touring would create synergies benefitting the newly merged companies as a whole.

“We are delighted to become part of the Milos Group, which will open up a huge range of creative possibilities with like-minded individuals,” said Mike Garl, president and general manager of Midland, TX-based Tomcat.

“Joining forces with Milos will enable all of us to continue offering the best staging solutions — off-the-shelf and customized — to meet the needs and exactions of our customers worldwide,” said Fabio Prada, VP sales & marketing of Litec. “Our staff is all motivated by passion, enthusiasm and initiative, which is very much the Milos ethos.”

Parnelli Host and Hometown Finalists Named, Voting Begins!

LAS VEGAS — Cory Wells of Three Dog Night will host the 12th annual Parnelli Awards gala, set for Oct. 20, 2012 at the Mirage Las Vegas hotel and casino. (For full details, see story, page 10)

The six regional winners/North American finalists for the 2012 Hometown Hero Award contest have also been chosen by PLSN readers (profiles begin on page 42). And the names of all the other individuals and companies on the official 2012 Parnelli Awards Ballot (page 41) are based on nominations made by PLSN readers last month. The Parnelli ballot is also online at parnelliawards.com, and voting will be open through Sept. 30!

Named for world-class production and tour manager, the late Rick “Parnelli” O’Brien, who worked with Queen among many other top acts, the Parnelli awards were founded 12 years ago to honor companies, individuals and products that have demonstrated excellence in the live production industry.

This year’s Parnelli Visionary (Joe Branam, profiled on page 38), Lifetime Achievement Award Winner (Charlie Hernandez, profiled next month) and Audio Innovators (Dave Shadoan and the late Ross Ritto, profiled in next month’s FOH magazine) have already been announced.

Every other Parnelli Awards category is up for grabs at the moment — and ultimately dependent on YOU, the PLSN reader. We won’t know the winners of the more than two dozen awards categories ourselves until YOUR votes are tallied after the voting closes Sept. 30, 2012.

Another much-anticipated part of the Parnelli Awards voting is the “IT” (Indispensible Technology) awards. These focus on new gear (launched between June 2011 and June 2012) in four categories: Lighting, Staging, Projection and Audio.

All winners will be announced during the annual Parnelli Awards ceremony and gala dinner, held Oct. 20, 2012, at the Mirage Resort in Las Vegas. Last year’s event was a sellout. Be sure you don’t miss out — get your tickets at parnelliawards.com/ reservations.
