The Black Keys Go Large

It’s one thing to keep a rock duo sounding sharp in small clubs, and quite another to ensure that the same players — plus a couple more — will still sound great to everyone packing a 20,000-capacity venue like Oakland, CA’s Oracle Arena (pictured here). FOH engineer Jason Tarulli, who followed the band out of Ohio, had his frst large-scale trial by fre at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. He didn’t get fred, however, and is now supporting the band with as many as 60 inputs. He works with monitors engineer Fabian Quiroga, a more recent addition to the crew.
