A Crowning Achievement

You’d need a pretty big head to wear the “crown” that production designer Eduardo “Wady” Rodriguez came up with for Romeo Santos’ big debut in Madison Square Garden as a solo artist. It’s a five-point moving truss lighting rig that appears over Santos’ grandiose perch upon a gilded throne amid winged lions — playing off the former Aventura frontman’s rep as the “King of Bachata.” Wady worked with creative producer and tour director Veikko Fuhrmann, not just on the concept, which includes a large cylinder of video screens, but on making it all happen within a 45-day window.
